The Frontiersman's Daughter by Laura Frantz is a fascinating coming-of-age story set in the Kentucky frontier in the late 1700s. It's hard to imagine a time when Kentucky was considered the West!Lael Click was born and raised in the "settlement." As she reached her teen years she was content with the simple life there... yet unsettled at the same time. I found the internal struggled Lael experienced to be true-to-life even though it was a completely different time and world than what I grew up in.
This was another historical novel that I learned a lot from. I am always so impressed when I read of our ancestors and what their lives were like... with so few conveniences, and little medical knowledge.
